Goal A: Feel Safe and Connected

 
 

A1. FEELINGS OF NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY

Definition: We track the percent of parents who feel safe walking alone in their neighborhood both during the day and at night.

5-Yr Target: At least 58% of parents in every San Francisco Supervisorial District feel safe in their neighborhood.

 

A2. JUSTICE SYSTEM INVOLVEMENT

Definition: San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) Referrals are defined as all cases referred to the department for the purposes of screening. Referrals include but are not limited to Court Orders, Violation of Probation, Home Detention Failures, Warrants, Transfers from other Counties and criminal offenses.

5-Yr Target: Decrease the percentage of disproportionality (difference in referral rates) to 15% or less (in JPD referrals) among all race/ethnicities.

 

A3. CHILD MALTREATMENT

Definition: The maltreatment rate calculates the number of substantiated (confirmed) cases of child maltreatment per 1,000 children. Types of child maltreatment can include neglect, physical abuse, custodial interference and emotional and sexual abuse. All can lead to poor physical and mental health well into adulthood.

5-Yr Target: Adopt the California State "Let's Get Healthy California" target of reducing substantiated instances of child maltreatment to no more than 3.0 instances per 1,000 children among all race/ethnicities.

 

A4. PARENTS AND CHILDREN FEEL ENGAGED & CONNECTED

Definition: We measure the percent of San Francisco parents who visit parks frequently.

5-Yr Target: At least 80% of San Francisco families visit parks once a month or more.
