CREATING COMMUNITYThe Department of Children, Youth & Their Families is pleased to support several efforts that help fulfill our mission that children and families are a prominent and valued segment of San Francisco's social fabric.

Anchor Initiative
The overriding purpose of the Anchor Initiative is to strengthen community-based, community-driven organizations that address multiple needs at the individual and neighborhood level.
Community Conveners
This exciting effort will employ trusted community organizations to:
Improve the coordination of services to meet community needs and challenges
Plan and promote community-wide events
Promote resource sharing and referrals among agencies
Enhance communication between CBOs and public agencies
Facilitate cross-organization problem solving
Family Events
DCYF supports numerous neighborhood, community, and civic events for San Francisco families with children.
Funding Strategies
Based on a Community Needs Assessment, with advice from its volunteer Citizen's Advisory Committee, DCYF makes strategic use of the voter-approved Children's Fund to support hundreds of community-based organizations that provide children & youth services throughout San Francisco.
